Copywriting, Strategy, Creative PartnershipFor large in-house marketing teams, ad agencies looking to boost their bench, and freelancers looking for creative partners, here’s Kristen’s favorite things to do.
(which also happen to be what she’s best at)
Campaign Concepting, Tactic Development, and Experiential Marketing
────────
When you want big, bold, and unique ideas fueled by an eclectic curiosity—Kristen’s your gal.
Website Writing
────────
Blessed with a UX “upbringing” (starting at an agency that combined creative and user experience into one team), her website copy docs aren’t just well-executed brand narratives—they’re also strategic plans shaped by sitemaps and wireframes.
Content Audits & Content Strategy
────────
Have a lot of stuff (websites, social, sales materials, etc.), but not sure it all makes sense for your goals? Kristen pulls it all together to assess and develop a plan. Plus, for editorial or social content, she can develop content types and a strategy for consistent and intentional deployment.
Scripts (Video, Radio)
────────
With a background in performing arts and screenwriting, scriptwriting for Kristen is just plain fun. A chance to create worlds and characters, even if it’s just for a :15 spot.
Social Media Advertising
────────
Like little puzzles, the restraints on social media advertising (think word counts, messaging placement, CTA choices) make them fun creative challenges, but don’t ask Kristen to write organic social posts or manage a comment section (been there, and she hated that).
Marketing Materials
────────
Digital or IRL, Kristen’s done it all (pretty much). Whether you’re thinking brochures, emails, billboards, or videos, the list of what’s possible (and what she’s done) goes on and on.
Voice, Tone, & Brand Guidelines
────────
Once again, the background in performing arts comes in major handy in developing the character of your brand. Plus, Kristen loves to ensure key elements of copywriting are considered in what are often design-focused brand guidelines (such as Oxford comma or serial? And is it “and” or an ampersand?).
It’s a list, but not an exhaustive one. Kristen’s been at this for over 15+ years now, in-house, in an agency, and as a freelancer (who’s worked with in-house teams and with agencies). Use that experience and expertise to your advantage.
So, what is a copywriter?Copywriters are both thinkers and artists. They are strategic storytellers. They use words to connect problem-solvers to problem-havers.
They can’t trademark your business name (copyright-ers) and they won’t fix your grammatical mistakes (copy editors), but they do know the rules well enough to break them. They take language and make it into a tool: to move, to empower, to excite. They are big picture thinkers who carry the story through every small detail. They know the difference a “!” or a “.” can make. They are collaborators first, word workers second. They learn from you, learn about the people you serve, and build the bridge that helps your two worlds meet. They are alchemists, allies, truth-tellers, and empaths. They’re your partner—the partner who takes on your passion and moves your audience to action.
